  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
  • green food coloring
  • chocolate decorations (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool.
  6. For the frosting, beat together the powdered sugar and butter, adding milk until desired consistency is reached. Mix in green food coloring.
  7. Frost the cooled cupcakes and decorate with chocolate decorations to resemble Christmas trees.
