  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion, carrots, and celery; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Add split peas, chicken broth, diced ham, thyme, and bay leaf.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 45 minutes or until peas are tender.
  6. Remove bay leaf, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve warm.
