- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
