French Onion Orzo Bake

A delicious and hearty recipe combining orzo pasta with the rich flavors of French onion soup and crispy turkey bacon.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  3. Add onions to the skillet and sauté until caramelized.
  4. Combine orzo, beef broth, thyme, and caramelized onions in a baking dish.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven, stir in cheese and crumble the turkey bacon on top, then bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Notes

  • Feel free to substitute regular bacon if preferred.
  • For added creaminess, mix in some cream cheese before baking.
